It’s time for week two of Friday Field Trips!  This week’s excursion:  Redbud Valley Nature Preserve!Redbud Valley Nature Preserve

I have to give credit to a friend of mine for mentioning this little gem a couple of weeks ago.  Thanks Friend!  (You know who you are!)

Redbud Valley Nature Preserve was started in the 1960s and was originally run by the University of Tulsa.  In the 90s, Oxley Nature Center began managing the preserve.

Red Bud Valley is a quick drive from where we live and is a great find.  As you wander the winding hiking trails, you will see all the beauty that is Oklahoma:  limestone cliffs, lush woods, wetlands, prairies, and deep ravines. Redbud Valley Amazing TreeRedbud Valley Trail There is an abundance of wildlife in the preserve.  Keep your eyes open; you might get lucky and spot some of the more elusive creatures.Squatch Collage

I guarantee, you won’t regret if you make the trek to Redbud Valley.  Pack a breakfast or lunch and hit the trails.  Who knows?  We may see you there!Redbud Valley--July 2013
